Foreigner-Friendly Hair Salons in Seoul: How to Choose and Book

Looking for a foreigner-friendly hair salon in Seoul? Start with three checks: who handles your consultation, what your chosen service includes, and the price after any extras. On Pglemaps, you can compare listed salons and open their service menus before starting a supported booking request.

You may already have a Korean haircut or perm saved on your phone. The harder part is explaining what you like about it, finding the right stylist, and fitting the appointment into a short trip. A useful salon shortlist should answer those questions before you pay.

Start with a service, not a salon's lowest price

Here are three different services from Pglemaps partner listings, checked on October 1, 2026. Prices are in Korean won (KRW). These are examples for different needs, not a quality ranking or a Seoul-wide price average.

Salon and area Selected service Listed time Listed price
Gravelle Hair Euljiro, Myeongdong/Euljiro Repair cut: cut + hair care step 1 90 minutes KRW 60,000
Juno Hair Myeongdong Arts Theater Branch Women's digital perm 150 minutes KRW 280,000
BITNAGE HAIR, Gangnam Seolleung Station Branch Full dyeing 90 minutes KRW 150,000, with listed length surcharges

All three listings show English among their language options, alongside translation support. Confirm how your chosen stylist will communicate during your appointment; a language label does not establish that every stylist speaks that language.

The comparison becomes useful when you choose your goal:

  • A haircut with some hair care: examine Gravelle's repair-cut package. Ask what the named care step includes and whether it suits your needs.
  • A digital perm: review Juno's selected menu and discuss your hair history before choosing a treatment.
  • A color change in Gangnam: examine BITNAGE's dyeing menu and its additional charges, not just the headline price.

These are not three prices for the same haircut. Open the current menu before deciding.

What does "foreigner-friendly" mean for your appointment?

Check who will explain the service

An English-speaking hair salon in Seoul should still be assessed at the appointment level. Ask whether you will speak directly with your stylist, communicate through another staff member, or use a translation app. Also ask whether any interpretation service costs extra.

For a trim, photos and a clear length limit may cover much of the conversation. For a major color change or perm, you need enough communication to discuss the process, alternatives, maintenance, and final price.

Ask about your hair, not your nationality

A listing that welcomes international visitors does not prove expertise with every hair texture or treatment history. If you have curls, coils, extensions, previous bleaching, or another specific requirement, ask for relevant examples from the stylist you would book.

Bring recent photos of your hair as well as your inspiration photo. Say what you do not want changed. The goal is an agreed plan, not a promise to reproduce a photograph exactly.

Choose an appointment that belongs in your trip

For a central Seoul day, the two Myeongdong-area listings above are useful starting points. If you are already spending time around Seolleung or elsewhere in Gangnam, compare BITNAGE's location with your other plans.

Do not add a cross-city journey only because a listing looks cheaper. Compare the actual address, your starting point, and the selected service's duration.

How much will the appointment really cost?

Treat a salon card's "from" price as an invitation to open the menu, not a quote for your hairstyle. At Juno's Myeongdong Arts Theater branch, for example, the KRW 10,000 menu item is a bangs cut/trim. It is not the price of the digital perm in the table.

BITNAGE's full-dyeing menu provides another useful example. The selected service is KRW 150,000, and its description lists regular length supplements of KRW 30,000 to KRW 90,000 across its S, M, L, and Extra L categories. It lists a separate supplement schedule for design color. Ask which category applies to your hair and chosen service before treating the displayed price as your total.

The menu also describes a single coloring application; further coloring may be needed depending on the starting color and desired result. Do not assume bleaching, multiple applications, a cut, or a care package is included unless your selected menu says so.

Before agreeing to a service, check these four amounts or conditions:

Check Question to ask
Selected menu Is this the exact service needed for my reference photo?
Extras Are there length, stylist, extra coloring, or care charges?
Payment split What is due online, and what remains payable at the salon?
Changes If the consultation changes the plan, what will the new total be?

Agree on the service and total before treatment starts. A lower online deposit is not a lower total appointment price.

Bring this to the consultation

Prepare a small set of useful references:

  • One or two photos of the result you want, including a side or back view where possible.
  • A recent photo of your own hair and a summary of previous coloring, bleaching, straightening, or perms.
  • A clear limit for how much length can be removed.
  • Your total budget and any time by which you need to leave.
  • An honest description of how you style your hair at home.

You can use a message like this when asking about a service:

I am visiting Seoul and would like a consultation for this style. Can my appointment be handled in English, directly or with translation support? Please confirm the suitable service, total price including extras, and expected finish time. I will share my current hair photos and treatment history.

Three short Korean questions can also help you check the essentials:

  • 영어로 상담할 수 있나요? Can we have the consultation in English?
  • 추가 요금을 포함하면 총 얼마인가요? What is the total including extra charges?
  • 시술이 끝나는 시간은 언제인가요? What time is the service expected to finish?

How to start a hair salon booking on Pglemaps

Pglemaps brings the salon's location, listed services, language information, and booking entry point into the same browsing flow. You can start from the hair salon category without building a travel route first.

  1. Open the Pglemaps hair salon list and choose a salon near the part of Seoul you will visit.
  2. Read the current service description, price, duration, and extra-charge notes. Check the language arrangement for your appointment.
  3. Choose the appropriate service and a designer, or select no designer preference where offered. If you choose several services, the page adds their listed durations; allow time beyond that for consultation and travel.
  4. Review the available visit date and time, payment breakdown, and cancellation terms before submitting a supported request. Sign-in may be required.
  5. Follow the payment instructions for that product, then check your booking status. Payment alone does not confirm an appointment: the salon must approve the request before the confirmation email is sent.

For products with supported online deposits, the deposit is charged in USD. Review the displayed total, deposit, remaining salon balance, and charge currency. Other products may use the merchant's payment instructions. The Pglemaps booking FAQ explains these distinctions; check the terms shown for your own selection.

Leave room around the appointment

A listed 150-minute service takes a substantial part of a day before travel is added. Avoid putting a prepaid activity, train departure, or flight immediately after it. Confirm the expected finish time with the salon if the rest of your day has fixed commitments.

For a Myeongdong-area appointment, keep any following shopping or meal flexible. For a Seolleung appointment, look at nearby plans before crossing Seoul again. These are scheduling suggestions, not generated routes or guaranteed finish times.

Before leaving the salon, ask how to maintain the result and whether your planned washing, swimming, or styling needs to change. Follow instructions for the actual treatment you received, not a general rule from a different service.

Questions before you choose

Can I book if I do not speak Korean?

Look for a stated language option, then confirm the arrangement for your stylist and service. Direct English consultation and translation support are different. If the explanation is not clear enough for you to agree to the service and cost, resolve that before treatment.

Can I get the same result as a Korean hairstyle photo?

A reference photo communicates a direction, not a guaranteed result. Ask what is realistic for your current hair, what work it requires, and how you would maintain it after returning home.

Should I book before arriving in Seoul?

If a particular stylist, service, or time matters to your trip, make the request ahead of your visit. Do not assume a listing or a visible date means your appointment is confirmed. Wait for the salon's approval and confirmation notice.

Is this a list of the best hair salons in Seoul?

No. It is a practical selection guide using current Pglemaps partner menus, not independent salon testing or a quality ranking. Choose by the consultation, service, total cost, and location that fit you.

Find the right appointment for your Seoul trip

Start with the style you want, then narrow the choice by communication, service scope, and location. Pglemaps lets you move from that shortlist to the actual salon menu and booking request, so you can check the details that a hairstyle photo cannot answer.
