When you think of Yeosu, a song probably comes to mind.
"Yeosu night sea, I drink you in this wind...โช"
So, most people visiting Yeosu follow a similar pattern:
Arrive late afternoon โ Cable car โ Romantic Pocha Street โ Night sea โ One night stay โ Depart next morning.
But that's truly seeing less than half of Yeosu.
Yeosu's real charm is all in the daytime. Odongdo Island with camellias in full bloom, Hyangiram Hermitage with its fantastic sunrise, Gaetgil Trail walking above the sea, islands like Geomundo and Geumodo, and Yeosu's 10 Delicacies like Ganjang Gejang (soy-marinated crab), Seodaehoe (flatfish sashimi salad), and Dolsan Gat Kimchi (mustard leaf kimchi from Dolsan).
The night sea is enough to see once. Daytime Yeosu is truly profound.
When I first went to Yeosu, I only saw the night sea. And I thought, "Yeosu? Once is enough.".
But on my second visit, I woke up early, walked from Odongdo, watched the sunrise at Hyangiram, and trekked the Gaetgil Trail, and my mind completely changed.
"Yeosu is a city I must revisit during the day."
So, in this article, I've compiled a guide for first-time visitors on how to enjoy Yeosu during the day, beyond the night sea, including camellias, sunrises, islands, trekking, and Yeosu's 10 Delicacies.A
quick read before you go will completely transform your Yeosu trip.

- April-May: Yeongchwisan azaleas
- Summer: Island hopping, swimming
- Autumn: Gaetgil Trail autumn leaves + cool sea breeze

โ๏ธ In Front of Daytime Yeosu
Yeosu's night sea is good, but daytime Yeosu is the real deal.
- Odongdo Island โ Camellias in full bloom from Jan-Mar, lighthouse trail all year round
- Hyangiram Hermitage โ TOP 3 sunrise spots in Korea, thousand-year-old temple on a cliff
- Islands โ Geomundo, Geumodo, Sado, true treasures
- Trekking โ Gaetgil Trail, Bireong-gil Trail, walk above the sea
- Food โ Ganjang Gejang Baekban, Seodaehoe, Dolsan Gat Kimchi, Yeosu's 10 Delicacies
At first, Yeosu = night sea for me
too.But on my second visit, after experiencing everything from Odongdo camellias to Hyangiram sunrise, Gaetgil Trail trekking, and Ganjang Gejang Baekban, I finally realized.Yeosu is
a city you can never truly know with just one visit.
Next time you go to Yeosu, instead of seeing the night sea again, wake up early and go to Hyangiram.
It's even better if it's camellia season at Odongdo.
In front of daytime Yeosu, the real Yeosu begins.
